The Big Spring Clean Comes to the S&DR

Volunteers from across County Durham came together to take part in Durham County Council’s Big Spring Clean which last Thursday set it’s sights on the section of the Stockton & Darlington Railway between Shildon and Newton Aycliffe.

The team of 42 volunteers managed to clean up a grand total of 86 bags of waste from the footpath along the line of which 39 were recyclable materials. Among the team were members of the Friends of the Stockton & Darlington Railway who welcomed the clean up of this important footpath that will be a key part of any future long distance walking route along the line.
