Taking the S&DR to the World: 27th-31st October 2019

Sunday 27th – Tuesday 29th October 2019

Our journey home was smooth and uneventful – good to be home again after nearly four weeks away.

Thursday 31st October 2019

Finished off the blog today and attended my first S&DR meeting.  Also, received three interesting contacts by email:

  1. Through the S&DR web site – someone wanting to know about accommodation for 2025 – he and his wife will be visiting from Australia and plan to attend the celebrations.
  2. One of my new contacts, Peter A Hansen, editor of Railroad History, did what he promised.  He has gained permission for me to ring Jack White, the foremost authority on early American locomotives and former curator for transport at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History and provided me with his telephone numbers.
  3. Contacted by the Commissioner of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad who I met at Rotary – keen to offer his support.

Aren’t people wonderful?
